Q) What energy saving options should I know about?

A)  You should give careful consideration to our Energy Saving Insulated Glass Package, featuring LoE2 glass.

LoE2 glass is barrier against ultraviolet rays, which fade carpet, furniture, draperies, and even woodwork, and it helps improve the energy efficiency of any window. When windows are equipped with the Energy Savings Package, they automatically meet or exceed the energy saving requirement for all three climate zones set forth by the Energy Star Window Program.

Q) Why are vinyl windows the best choice?

A)  Your choice of framing material goes a long way toward determining the longevity and energy efficiency of the total window system.  Wood windows possess good thermal qualities but are prone to weather deterioration and require painting at regular intervals.  Aluminum windows are very durable but offer little insulating value because they conduct energy rapidly.  Vinyl windows are your best choice because they offer thermal characteristics similar to wood are extremely durable and provide a finish that is virtually maintenance free.  Also keep in mind that the best performing vinyl window systems have multi-chambered frames with welded corners. 

Q) What is argon gas and why is it used with Low E glass?

A)  Argon is a safe, odorless, colorless, non-toxic, non-flammable inert gas insert that is commonly used in place of air between the glass panes of an insulated Low E glass unit.  Argon's heat conductivity is lower than that of air, and thus it is a better insulator and contributes to a lower U-factor.  Argon is not an effective solar performer by itself:  that is why it is only used on conjunction with Low E treated glass.

Thermally efficient LoE2 glass provides year round comfort and energy savings.  Two thin, transparent metallic coatings applied to the glass selectively filter solar radiation.  During the summer, LoE2 reduces heat gain, keeping your home cooler.  LoE2 glass helps keep you warmer in the winter by reflecting heat back into your house.
